About AFSA

The Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA) is a federally chartered Veterans’ Service Organization representing the professional and personal interests of military members, veterans, retirees, and their families.

Founded in 1961, AFSA gives the enlisted force a voice on Capitol Hill and within the Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs. Through advocacy, education, professional development, and community involvement, AFSA works to protect earned benefits and improve quality of life for military families.

AFSA advocates for improved quality of life, economic fairness, and strong support for all military personnel and their families. AFSA represents more than 75,000 military and uniformed service members and their families.

History

AFSA was founded in 1961 by four U.S. Air Force non-commissioned officers who saw the need for a strong organization to represent enlisted personnel before America’s elected and military leaders.

Since then, AFSA has grown into a respected advocate for military members, veterans, retirees, and families, working to protect the benefits earned through service.

Membership

AFSA membership is open to:

Uniformed Service Members
Active Duty, Guard, Reserve, Retired, and Veteran military members from all services, including enlisted and commissioned officers, Public Health Service, and NOAA members.

Family Members
Family members of uniformed service members.

Associate Members
DoD civilians, Civil Air Patrol, ROTC/JROTC, business partners, sponsors, member service providers, and military supporters.

AFSA Structure

AFSA headquarters is located in Suitland, Maryland. The association is led by an Executive Council and supported by divisions and chapters around the world.

AFSA is organized into seven divisions with chapters across the globe, giving members opportunities for professional development, community service, networking, and local involvement.
